DDB 2021 Reflection

In a year filled with vaccines and variants, DDB has made a lot of amazing content, gained some impressive new skills, and made a lot of fun memories and connections. For Black History Month, DDB hosted an online talent show where young Black creators competed for a range of prizes. Some of our members were featured in an episode of Holmes Family Effect which aired in February, and our cohort got a lot of attention! We participated in a wellness challenge in April to keep track of our mental and physical health. In the Summer, many of our group members went through a rigorous digital video production program with outside instructors and developed our audio, video, and illustration skills. In the fall, we spent a lot of time applying to funding sources to further support our organization and our vision. Throughout the year we revamped our website, and continued to put out articles, podcasts, and Youtube videos, and advocating for racial justice on our social media accounts.

Another year passes by, and It’s finally time to reflect on myself and my accomplishments as a DDB member. Firstly, I would like to sincerely thank everyone who rode on our journey this year, whether it be a viewer or someone who helped guide us through our achievements. 2021 was a year filled with learning new abilities and techniques that helped build our platforms. We gained many opportunities, more than we could imagine that helped better understand what we need in order for DDB to grow. As an individual, this year taught me a number things but most importantly, how to learn to be more independent. This could play in working on DDB work on my own time or just being able to depend on myself. I’m so excited to see what DDB has in store in the upcoming year and how much more we will learn while mastering our skills. I know we will continue to reach out to communities and hopefully inspire more youth like us. I have a lot of faith in every team member and I am certain that we will all put in the extra effort and work even harder than we did this year. Here’s to another great year!

I honestly cannot process the amount of gratitude I feel to be part of a Daily Dose of blackness. It’s a place where we come to be ourselves and share laughs without judgements. Though still living through a pandemic we managed to accomplish many things. My favorite memory from this year was attending the summer tech program. It was exciting to learn how to use Final Cut Pro and work with people I’ve never met. I’m interested to see where DDB will be by the end of 2022.

As the year ends, I look back at what ddb has accomplished in the past year and I believe that 2021 was a great year for us. We have become more skilled at our jobs and I know for a fact that we will be even stronger in the upcoming year. I also wanna thank everyone who has supported us, even if it was just a quick glance at any of our content! I’m very excited to see what 2022 holds for DDB.

I’m proud to say that a Daily Dose of Blackness has accomplished a lot. Throughout the years of our accomplishments, we had many downfalls such as losing members and not being consistent with content. We struggled with being consistent because most of the DDB members are students so at times It was difficult to manage School and DDB. But we were able to keep our cooperative and continue to work hard to produce entertaining content. One great achievement is that DDB is in the process of being a production group and is something I would never have imagined we as a collective will be doing. However, Being a part of DDB has taught me lots of things such as life lessons and practical things. I’ve learned a lot and I'm continuing to learn as a part of this group. My goals for 2022 is to be more consistent with content and expand my skills.

Although this year covid and the lockdown were one of our major setbacks, we still did everything we could to stay dedicated to our work and achieved many goals in the time being. I’m so grateful to be a part of a hard working, inclusive and optimistic group . I know that we have many more accomplishments to come. I would say that our biggest achievement this year is receiving multiple grants and using the profits to expand our platform. I hope in 2022 we go even further with our talent and skills because this year for sure we exceed our expectations.

Looking back on this past year, DDB has accomplished a lot. I feel that we were able to really focus on learning and exploring with our content and on creating a reflection of ourselves through DDB. As DDB has grown as a cohort and community, I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to also grow my own skills, especially as a designer, and to contribute to the team. Events-wise, I especially enjoyed witnessing the Black History Month Talent Show come together and viewing all of the creative submissions. I can’t wait to get going on the exciting new projects that DDB has lined up for 2022!

Once again we have reached the end of the year. It always feels like such a bittersweet moment where we reflect on ourselves but also reminisce in our memories. One thing that I can say I am always and will continue to be proud of is DDB. Throughout the year we have made multiple accomplishments and I have ultimately made some unforgettable memories with these amazing friends and colleagues. I think 2021 was filled with some of our biggest goals and achievements. As well as a whole we have met and had the chance to collaborate and work with some incredible people. I am extremely proud to say that I am a member of DDB and I can’t wait for what we have planned next.

Wow we made it another year through another cycle around the sun. This year was one like no other for Daily Dose of Blackness from creating an online talent show from nothing and starting the process of becoming a media/production company. However aside from all that the one thing that I enjoyed the most was seeing my Daily Dose Of Blackness family. And yes not coworkers not friends not work buddies my ddb family. We’ve been through so much and done so much together with ddb it feels so unreal. I get so happy seeing these people and dreaming about becoming successful with them brings me to tears. So enjoy the New Years and stay tuned for us.
